1601: Today saw the consecration of Bishop Thomas Dove - the 5th Bishop of Peterborough. His account book records that: 'I was consecrated at Lambeth by the L. Dove was a noted preacher and, at some date before this, sufficiently impressed Queen Elizabeth I for her to remark that she 'thought that the Holy Ghost was descended again in this Dove'.
